Gi21 backs Hermetiq, a US build intelligence startup, in its $2.2M seed round

Gi21 Capital has invested in Hermetiq, Inc., a US company building an AI platform for analyzing software builds. Hermetiq has closed a $2.2M seed round led by Jet Investment. Alongside Gi21, the round was joined by Gokul Rajaram, Niranjan Tulpule of Google, and Jason Calacanis' LAUNCH accelerator.

When a build fails, tracking down the cause usually falls to a handful of scarce specialists while the rest of the team waits. Hermetiq monitors every build, tells apart problems in configuration, caching, queues and execution itself, and pinpoints the exact root cause of a failure from telemetry. The next step is automated remediation that connects AI coding agents with a reliable build system.

The company was founded in 2025 by Jake Newfield (CEO) and Timothy Potter (CTO), both formerly of Trace Machina. The platform already runs in production at one of the world’s leading AI labs and is being piloted by Etsy. The investment fits Gi21’s strategy of backing technical founders on both sides of the Atlantic.

“AI is making code cheaper to write, and that turns builds into the new bottleneck. Jake and Tim know this problem from the inside and are already solving it at the cutting edge of the industry,” said Damir Špoljarič, Founder and Managing Partner of Gi21 Capital.
